Construction standards for carpet laying

Before laying the carpet, the interior decoration must be completed. All heavy equipment indoors has been in place, debugged, operated, and verified to meet the qualified standards.

2. The base layer for laying floor carpets must have a flat, smooth, and clean surface. If there is oil stains, they must be wiped clean with acetone or turpentine. If it is a cement floor, it should have a certain strength and a moisture content not exceeding 8%.

3. Carpets, liners, and adhesives should be inspected and verified for quantity, variety, specifications, color, pattern, etc. that meet the design requirements upon arrival. If they meet the requirements, they should be stored separately in dry warehouses or rooms according to their variety and specifications. Before use, it is necessary to pre lay, match flowers, and number them. The design to be laid should be used according to the number.

Skirting boards around rooms, corridors, and other areas that require carpeting should be prepared in advance. The construction process for the lower opening of the skirting board should be carried out with a height of about 8mm from the ground, in order to cover the rough edges of the carpet under the skirting board. 4. Before large-scale construction, a construction sample should be released and a sample should be made. After passing the inspection by the quality inspection department, construction can be organized according to the requirements of the sample.

Operation process:

1. Process flow: grassroots treatment → marking, square fitting, dividing, positioning → carpet cutting → nailing and barbed board tapestry strips → laying padding → laying carpet → detailed treatment and cleaning

2. Active laying: It refers to a method of laying without using adhesive to stick to the base layer, which is not fixed to the base layer and can be leveled along the wall corners. Generally only applicable to the laying of decorative craft carpets.

3. Fixed laying operation process:

1) Grassroots treatment: The base layer for laying carpets is usually cement floor, which can also be wood floor or other materials. The surface is required to be flat, smooth, and clean. If there is oil stains, they must be wiped clean with acetone or turpentine. If it is a cement floor, it should have a certain strength, a moisture content of no more than 8%, and a surface flatness deviation of no more than 4mm.

2) Snapping, square fitting, grid division, and positioning: It is necessary to strictly follow the specific requirements of the design drawings for different parts and rooms to snap, square fitting, and grid division. If there are regulations and requirements on the drawings, construction should be strictly carried out according to the drawings. If there are no specific requirements on the drawing, it should be symmetrically centered and marked to locate and lay.

3) Carpet cutting: Carpet cutting should be concentrated and unified in a relatively wide area. Be sure to accurately measure the size of the room and register the numbers one by one according to the room and the carpet model used. Then, according to the size and shape of the room, use a trimming machine to cut off the carpet material. The length of each section of the carpet should be about 2cm longer than the room, and the width should be calculated based on the size after cutting off the carpet edge line. Cut off the edges with a snap line, then use a hand pushed cutting knife to cut from the back of the blanket. After cutting, roll it into a roll and number it, and place it in the designated room. Large area rooms should be cut and sewn at the construction site.

4) Nail barbed board tapestry strip: Along the edge of the skirting board around the room or corridor, use high-strength cement nails to nail the barbed board onto the base layer, facing the wall direction, with a distance of about 40cm between them. The barbed board should be 8-10mm away from the skirting board surface to facilitate the nailing of the barbed board.

5) Laying cushion: Brush 107 glue or polyvinyl acetate latex onto the base layer of the ground using the point sticking method, and leave it about 10mm away from the barbed board.

6) Carpet laying:

a. Sewing Carpet: Lay the cut carpet on the cushion layer, then roll up the carpet and sew it at the joint. After stitching, apply plastic tape to the seam to protect it from being scratched or raised. Then lay the carpet flat and use a curved needle to make a dense and fluffy stitch at the seam.

b. Positioning and Fixing Carpet: First, fix one long edge of the carpet onto a barbed board, cover the rough edge under the baseboard, and stretch the carpet with a carpet brace. When stretching, press down on the carpet brace with your hands, hit the carpet brace with your knees, and push it step by step from one side to the other. If it cannot be flattened once, the stretching should be repeated until it is flattened. Then fix the carpet on another barbed board and cover the burrs. Cut off the growing carpet with a cutting knife. After stretching in one direction, continue stretching in the other direction until all four edges are fixed on the barbed board.

c. When laying and sticking carpets, first apply adhesive on one side of the room, then lay the pre cut carpets, and then use carpet supports to pull towards both sides; Brush two more adhesive strips along the wall edge to flatten and cover the edges of the carpet.

7) Detailed processing and cleaning: attention should be paid to the processing of door trim, as well as the cutting, fixing, and edge covering of carpets in areas such as door frames, corridors and foyers, floors and pipe roots, heating hoods, trough boxes, corridor and bathroom door sills, staircase steps and aisle platforms, inner and outer doors, carpets of different colors at intersections, and baseboards. The carpets must be firmly bonded and there should be no exposed or post patching work. After the carpet is laid and the closing strip is fixed, it should be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and any loose fuzz on the carpet surface should be thoroughly cleaned.
